High season
In summer, the peak of all vacations is in July-August. If you plan to relax in European countries, please note that in August, Europeans have mass vacations. In addition, many people from western countries are used to plan a vacation almost a year in advance, so it is not so easy to make it to the Mediterranean coast in the second half of the summer. Start planning this trip no later than 3 months ahead.
You may notice how the cost of accommodation in resort towns are rising sharply after June 15-20th and continue to rise until the end of summer. Prices drop is starting in September. If you desperately want to sunbathe on a beach, and at the same time to avoid crowds of people, plan to have your vacation at the end of May or June, or in September.
Flight tickets
As you know, the closer it is to the date of departure, the higher the cost of the tickets is. It is considered that it is most profitable to buy tickets 45 days before the departure date. The fact is that booking tickets for 2-3 months in advance will not make the price lower. The airline company automatically puts the prices, according to the flight load factor that was the previous year. However, if you fly in the high season, this rule may lose its relevance.
If the vacation period allows it, buy a ticket for the middle of the week - for Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. At this time, flights are the least loaded, and the prices for them are the most loyal. Also remember that the airlines that arrange promo actions, most often give discounts during the day, starting on Sunday night.
Hotel
When you choose a hotel, check its pictures and read reviews, also it is worth paying attention to several other factors:
- The size of the room. As there are a lot of vacationers in summer, hotel owners save a lot on space. Remember that to feel comfortable your room should be at least 35-40 sq.m.
- The number of rooms in the hotel. To avoid spending your vacation in a crowded hotel with limited space, choose the hotel with at least 200-300 rooms.
- The noise level. Pay attention to this fact while reading the reviews. The noise, by the way, is often heard in the small rooms - for costs reasons, the rooms are simply separated with thin partition-walls.
Tour booking
If you book your summer vacation in early spring and with the help of a tour operator, you can get a good discount for the so-called "earlier booking". Early booking is a period of 3-6 months before the expected date of the tour. The discount can vary, but, on average, it is 20-40%.
In case of a spontaneous desire to relax in high season, you also have options, but at high prices, and perhaps the hotel will not be the best. After booking a tour in advance, in addition to discounts, you have the opportunity to choose the hotel that you want, and not that where the rooms are available.
