Fragrance duration may not be the problem on the manufacturer's side. If after a few hours upon application the smell of your parfum (eau de toilette) begins to fade, observe these simple rules of scent-wearing to extend the life of your favourite scent.
1. Apply to moist skin
Aromatic compositions stay longer when they are applied on damp skin. If you take to spraying a little perfume immediately after the shower, when the body is well-hydrated, the fragrance will persist much longer. To enhance the effect, "fix" the fragrance, using it again just before leaving the house.
2. Use cream
Many manufacturers produce perfumed products for body and hair care in addition to the fragrance itself. One of the advantages of using creams of the same line is increasing the scent's duration. In addition, any perfume in principle is better preserved on thoroughly moisturized skin. Therefore, as fragrance base, you can turn to any cream or body lotion with a mildly expressed scent.
3. Remember "pulse" points
There are areas on the human body where the pulse is palpated more clearly – on the wrist, elbow, neck, behind the ears, in the popliteal region. It is to these places it is best to apply perfume to make sure the scent lasts. The hair is also known to hold on to. It is enough to spray a few drops of flavor on your hair loose or to sprinkle the comb before combing it.
4. Store correctly
Keeping your perfume in the bathroom is a big mistake. In the same way as to allow direct sunlight to hit the vial itself. The fact is that the perfume retains its qualities better when stored in a dry room, away from direct sunlight – for example, on a closed shelf or in the hallway.
5. Use vaseline
Not many people know, but to maintain the duration of scent, you can use ordinary cosmetic Vaseline. It is not absorbed by the skin, but creates a kind of film on it, on which the fragrance rests. As a result, the scent is retained on the skin for a longer time without being absorbed into it. To see for yourself, apply it in a thin layer to those places where you intend to spray the perfume.
6. Check components' persistence
When choosing fragrances, it is necessary to take into account how durable they are. For example, floral and marine notes fade very quickly. The same is true for floral accords. The most persistent are scents belonging to chypre, musky and woody fragrance families.
Does the perfume really suit you?
It is also believed that if the perfume is suitable for you, you will no longer feel it 20 minutes after application. Therefore, if you are not sure is you have the long-lasting scent, ask your friends, if they can tell that you are wearing perfume.
