The Macallan is one of the oldest brands in Scotland. Macallan single malt whiskey dates back to 1700, the time when the family estate was established – The Macallan Easter Elchies House in the Scottish district of Speyside. The impeccable reputation of the drink has been earned by the craftsmen of whisky manufacturing for almost two centuries.

Today the Macallan whisky is produced in the distillery according to old recipes exclusively from the ingredients of the best quality. The composition of the drink includes a unique variety of barley, The Minstrel, which is famous for its excellent taste. Many manufacturers abandoned it because of the complexity and high cost of production. Water for The Macallan whisky is extracted from the springs which belong to the distillery.

6 pillars The Macallan quality

Family estate

The family estate of Easter Elchies House is the first pillar of The Macallan. An old mansion in the style of the King James' era, built in 1700, embodies more than two centuries of The Macallan history.

Small stills

Usage of the smallest stills in Speyside plays a crucial role in the process of The Macallan distillation. Their unique shape and size allow the drink to contact with copper as much as possible, gaining rich fruity, flavorful taste.

Distillation heart

Only 16% of the produced alcohol – the cream of the crop – is used to fill the barrels. It is called the "heart of distillation."

Excellent oak barrels

Different types of barrels in their own way affect the distillate, resulting in a unique color, aroma and taste of whiskey. 80% of the flavor and taste of whiskey is formed in the barrel, in which the drink was kept. A barrel from sherry Oloroso made from European oak gives whiskey a chocolate-orange flavor and the aroma of dried fruits and spices; sherry barrel from the American oak – sweet citrus flavor, light hint of spices, vanilla and woody tastes; barrel from the bourbon made from American oak – sweet citrus, coconut, woody taste.

Natural color

The Macallan are among the few that do not add the caramel dye to whisky. The variety of its color shades is the result of the interaction of oak barrels, alcohol and time.

Awesome whisky

Masters of whisky-making, The Macallan, carefully monitor the "dormant" barrels, choosing exactly the moment when each of them is at the peak of maturity to fill the bottles with the most expensive whisky in the world. Unparalleled whisky is the final product of skill, dedication and striving for excellence.

The Macallan is a Scotch single malt whiskey, already an attribute of luxury and style. It was dubbed "Rolls Royce" in the world of whisky "(according to the Whisky Guide of Harrods, London).
