Historical festivals are huge events that allow you to plunge into a certain historical epoch. You can "play" in the Vikings, feel like a resident of a medieval kingdom or become a real mailed knight for a few days.
What the festivals can be
Festivals have their own classification, which helps to distinguish the main point of the events. For example, there are so-called festivals-reconstructions. During this period, the territory of the event recreates the most clear and realistic picture of the past - no invented facts or assumptions, everything is based only on a factual information. Regardless of the time being described, military events - fencing, equestrian tournaments, hand-to-hand fighting, are definitely included.
Military-historical festivals focus on military events of different epochs. It means that during one event you can observe both the Napoleonic wars, the crusades, and military events of the 20th century. Most of these festivals are held on the territory of Ukraine, Russia and neighboring countries. On the West, such festivals, as a rule, describe the military events of only one particular epoch.
Historical fairs (Medieval, Renaissance) are made in the format of a bright show, and often miss the details that you can observe on historical festivals. Moreover, at the fairs you can find more mass entertainment events, which anybody will like even those who do not have a deep understanding in history.
