Documents
First of all check the list of necessary documents - without a passport, money and tickets you are unlikely to go far. Also, you should have such documents like insurance, a copy of the accommodation booking and a bank card when passing control at the entrance to a new country.
- foreign passport (or national identity document if you travel domestically);
- tickets (for airplane, train, bus, etc.);
- bank card;
- cash;
- hotel reservation or tourist voucher;
- insurance;
- driving license (if you are going to rent a car);
- documents of the child - foreign passport, birth certificate, permission to leave (if the child goes abroad with one of the parents).
Be sure that you always have additional copies of your passports, which will be very helpful in case of theft or loss of documents.
Clothes and shoes
Suitcase wardrobe depends on the duration of the trip, the season and whether you are going for rest or for work. If you don’t have enough time, look through this basic list, and if you want you can correct it in your own way:
- a pair of casual T-shirts;
- jeans;
- warm jacket or sweater (in case of cool weather);
- swimming trunks/suit (it is actual even in winter, if the hotel has a swimming pool);
- underwear;
- pajamas;
- socks;
- waterproof jacket;
- comfortable shoes;
- rubber slippers.
Personal care items
Remember, the maximum amount of cosmetic liquid in total that you can carry onto a flight in your hand luggage is 10 bottles up to 100 ml each. However, even if you register your luggage, do not put in your suitcase big jars and tubes. Pour the necessary amount into a small bottle or buy travel versions of your favorite brands.

Modern mobile phones combine both a camera, an e-book, a player, and a notepad for notes - take this into account so as not to bring with you extra gadgets.

- headphones;
- adapter for sockets (if such is required in the country of destination);
- power bank (portable charging).
Be sure to have your mobile phone and charger in your hand luggage – in case your suitcase is lost, you should always have the means of communication. If you take your laptop with you for work or a professional camera, do not put them in your luggage to avoid breakage or loss.
Additionally
- things for children, if you are traveling with a child. Pampers, base clothes, water, food and bottles should always be hand luggage in case your main luggage is delayed on the way;
- a first-aid kit with medicines;
- a travel pillow (if there is a long flight or a trip by bus);
- an umbrella;
- a notepad and a pen;
- sunglasses;
- travel sewing kit;
- cosmetic scissors;
- a book, magazine or guidebook;
- sim-card for travel.
