Bulgaria
Most beaches in Bulgaria are not pebbly but sandy. All coast can be divided into northern and southern, which slightly differ in water temperature at the beginning and the end of the season. The last beach on the southern coast is Silistar, the sea is quiet here, not really deep, and the water is warm.
In the area of Sunny Beach beaches are fairly clean, but on the shore, there is always seaweed, which then again is thrown into the sea. At the Golden Sands in summer it is always very hot and stuffy because of the mountains, and the entrance to the sea is not very convenient.
For beautiful views, you can go to the city of Nessebar, but you need to look hard for clean beaches here. Pomorie is suitable for a quiet family holiday - the entrance to the sea here is very smooth, and the water always gets warm well. In Burgas, there are beautiful clean beaches, although you still need to think about if you would like to spend your holiday there because there is a large port. The resort village of Obzor is attracted by the warm sea and is perfect for vacation with children.
In Bulgaria, vacationers periodically run into a so-called sea dragon, a fish with sharp poisonous spikes. This dragonfish often burrows into the sand, exposing its needles to the surface.
Italy
Italy is surrounded by sea from almost all sides, so the length of the coastline in the country is very large. The Ligurian coast stretches from the border with France to Genoa, it is almost completely rocky and is oriented to a quiet, not a "mass" holiday.
The Adriatic coast is sandy and quite extended. 2/3 of the western coast of Italy is the Tyrrhenian coast – it is mostly mountainous, and the sea is very clean and calm. People like to come here with families. In the most southern province of Basilicata, there is the Ionian coast, sandy beaches are marked by the EU's Blue Flag for cleanliness.
All the beaches of Italy are divided into paid and free, so it is always worthwhile to specify in advance what kind of beach is located in the place of your vacation. Free beaches are marked with a sign spiaggia libera. Keep in mind that in July and August, owners of paid beaches can raise prices by half.
In Italy, you can not be on the beach from 1 am to 5 am. It is also forbidden to walk in swimsuits or with a bare torso outside the beach - a fine is charged.
In August, jellyfish appear on all coasts of Italy, some of them are very stingy. More often they can be found on "island" beaches, but on the mainland, too, so it is worth keeping away from jellyfish.
Spain
In Spain, all beaches are public and free. All the most popular resorts are located in the Balearic and Canary Islands, as well as on Spain mainland. The most famous resorts of the Baleares are the islands of Mallorca and Ibiza. On the islands the climate is mild, in the summer the heat is not exhausting. The season starts in the middle of June and ends at the end of September.
People travel to the Canary Islands both in summer and in winter - the average annual temperature ranges around +25°C. On the beaches you can find sand of the most incredible shades, down to black volcanic sand on the island of Tenerife.
On the east coast of the Spain mainland (the province of Alicante, Valencia, Almeria) you can swim from June to October. On the southern coast of the Costa del Sol, the water is slightly cooler, although the season is the same. The neighboring Costa Tropical resort gives holidaymakers 300 sunny days a year, in summer the water temperature is about +24°С.
Costa Daurada is 100 km from Barcelona, many local beaches are marked by the Blue Flag of the EU. Here the sand is golden and the entrance to the water is very smooth. The Costa Brava is on the other side of Barcelona and is considered to be the coolest in the Spanish Mediterranean.
Portugal
In Portugal, the ocean coasts are incredibly clean, although for a beach holiday this country is not as popular as neighboring Spain. The ideal time to visit the coast is from the beginning of June to the beginning of October. At this time, there is practically no rain, and the daytime temperature is very comfortable - 24-27°C.
In Portugal, there are sandy, pebbly, and stony beaches. It is believed that the most comfortable beaches are in the Algarve. On many beaches near the shore, there are beautiful rocks, with grottoes and caves. The water here is calm and warm, you can go diving or go out on a yacht.
In the area of Lisbon, there are many expensive hotels and beautiful beaches. The beach of Adraga in Sintra area is with white sand, and the coastal strip is cut by rocks sticking out of the water. For this reason, it is quite dangerous to swim here. In Madeira, due to the peculiarities of the terrain, many beaches are rocky enough. Therefore, one part of them is covered with concrete slabs, and the other - with golden sand, which was brought from Morocco.
