MACY’S, New York
Macy's department store has been famous for its Christmas windows for a century and a half. This year, the decorators decided to hit the townspeople with the scale and beauty of the animation – you can observe the world "behind the glass" for hours! Showcases tell the story of a small town where fabulous penguins, bears and mice live, ballerinas dance, trams ride and boats float. A miniature copy of the department store itself is presented in the form of a doll house – there is a huge Christmas tree, and a kind bearded Santa, miniature shops and escalators.
Harrods, London
On the Christmas windows of London Harrods worked stylists and decorators of the Dolce Gabbana brand. As a result, they managed to create the traditional atmosphere of the Italian holiday – with funny families of dolls, walking around the shops, and funny figures of Italian designer assistants.
Galeries Lafayette, Paris
In the center of Paris, the Galeries Lafayette showcases invite each passer-by to look at the fairy tale, told by the doves Pierre and Coco. Here all dolls live their lives thanks to a variety of mechanisms. Their movement is an enchanting performance, inspiring with sweet memories of the childhood.
Tiffany shops
Showcases of the jewelry brand Tiffany, whose stores have spread around the world, this year was created by the legendary designer Jean Moore. Winter weekdays of little men are accompanied by a luxurious and sparkling design – all at a delicate refined scale, just in the style of Tiffany. For example, to decorate shop windows on Fifth Avenue in New York, 15 miniature copies of a chandelier, created in 1966 for the New York Metropolitan Opera, were ordered.
Hudson's Bay, Toronto
The Canadian department store has placed fabulous animals on the show-windows: polar bears and squirrels, hares, penguins, owls and chipmunks. The reigning atmosphere of the winter landscapes of the North is fascinating – as if a huge TV were showing a New Year's cartoon.
Saks Fifth Avenue, New York
This year, the world-famous New York department store decided to combine the celebration of Christmas and the 80th birthday of the Snow White by Disney. A lot of scenes from the popular story about the Snow White of the 50s literally "play" for the public. The windows of Saks are inhabited by the cheerful gnomes, and the evil queen, who rotates and turns into a witch with a poisoned apple, and the beautiful prince bending over the sleeping Snow White.
Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, Paris
Perhaps the most traditional turned out to be the show-windows of this Parisian department store. The main heroes of commercial Christmas gathered in the glass cases: pot-bellied Santa Clauses, their aides – the gnomes with red beards, and huge piles of gifts. By the way, the atmosphere of "total Christmas" reigns inside the store, and all the department store employees, dressed in red sweaters, play the role of "Santa's team".
Pleasant Christmas shopping and exciting events in the new year!
